New Postal Code, Same Ghosts: Why You Can’t Outrun Who You Used to Be

Image
There is a specific kind of high that comes with packing your life into boxes, watching the highway lines blur in the rearview mirror, and crossing into a new area code. For the first few weeks, the illusion holds. The streets don’t have memories attached to them yet. Nobody at the local grocery store knows your history, your mistakes, or the versions of yourself you fought like hell to survive. You feel clean. Reinvented. Then the boxes get unpacked, the adrenaline wears off, and the house gets quiet. That is usually when you realize that while your address changed, your nervous system didn’t get the memo. You can put hundreds of miles between yourself and your past, only to find out your ghosts didn’t need gas money—they rode shotgun the whole way. The Myth of the Clean Slate We are sold this idea that changing our environment is the ultimate fix. Move to a new town, change your number, build a better routine, and the past gets wiped clean. Moving is a massive power move when you ar...

Why Moving Forward Means Leaving Old Versions of Yourself—and Their Company—Behind

Image
Nobody really talks about the weirdest part of getting your shit together.   You think the hardest part is going to be breaking your own bad habits, fixing your mindset, or finally dragging yourself out of a rut. And yeah, that part takes work.   But the real slap in the face? It’s waking up one day, looking around at the people you’ve known forever, and realizing they liked you way better when you were a mess. When you’re stuck, you attract—and stay comfortable around—people who are also stuck. You bond over the same complaints. You vent about the same dead-end cycles. You validate each other’s excuses because if nobody is moving forward, nobody has to feel bad about standing still. It’s a comfortable little misery club, and as long as you keep paying your dues by staying small, everybody gets along just fine. Then you actually start doing the work. You start changing how you think. You stop entertaining bullshit that used to take up your whole week. You get tired of the soun...

Don’t Fight the Calm: Why Peace Feels Like a Trap (And How to Actually Stay in It)

Image
Nobody warns you about the panic that sets in when your life finally gets quiet. When you spend years living on high alert—dodging fires, managing other people’s moods, surviving one crisis just to catch your breath before the next—your body gets addicted to the noise. Chaos becomes familiar. It becomes your baseline. So when things finally settle down? When the bills are handled, the drama has cleared out, the house is still, and nobody is demanding a piece of you? Your brain doesn’t throw a party. Your brain panics. It whispers, “It’s too quiet. What did we forget? What’s about to go wrong?” And if you aren't careful, that’s the exact moment you sabotage yourself. Because when peace feels unfamiliar, it feels dangerous. So without even meaning to, you start looking for a problem. You pick at an old scab. You overanalyze a text that meant nothing. You borrow trouble from tomorrow just to give your nervous system something heavy to hold onto, because you don’t know what your hands...

The Sobriety Trap: Facing Relationship Struggles After Addiction

Image
I thought the hard part was over. I thought that once I stopped the chasing, the numbing, and the burning, the majick would just... appear.                                                                                                               I thought a clean drug test was the finish line. I was wrong. Sobriety didn't solve my problems. It just took away the blindfold that was keeping me from seeing them. And nothing makes those problems clearer than trying to love someone else without a chemical buffer. The Ghost in the Room I entered a new relationship thinking I was "fixed." I was doing the work. I was staying present. I was "good." But then the first argument happened. The first moment of insecurity...

Self-Care Is B*LLSHIT When You're Broke!!!

Image
"Take a bubble bath. Light a candle. Do a face mask. Treat yourself, queen!" Cool. With what money? I'm so tired of self-care advice that assumes you have disposable income. Like yeah, I'd LOVE a spa day. I'd love to book a massage and get my nails done and sip overpriced juice while someone rubs my feet. But I'm in a fifth wheel. My budget is "make sure the dog eats and the phone stays on." Self-care for me looks different. It's taking Glizzy for a walk even when I don't feel like moving. It's drinking water instead of just coffee. It's going to bed instead of doomscrolling until 3am. It's saying no to shit that drains me — even when I feel guilty about it.It's letting the dishes sit one more day because I don't have the bandwidth and that's FINE. Real self-care isn't about buying things. It's about not abandoning yourself when life gets hard. It's choosing to stay sober even when your brain is loud and...

The Raw Truth About Self-Love

✦ The Boujee Blueprint I chose to stop being the one who gets left with nothing. This journal was my blueprint out. If you're ready to reclaim your independence, click here to start your own Boujee Hustle .   Self-love isn't just bubble baths and spa days. Those are fine, but the real journey? It's gritty. Forget the sugar-coated stories. You want the truth? Here's the lowdown on self-love that nobody shares. The Ugly Side of Self-Acceptance Real self-love? It's messy. You've got to accept every part of you, even the bits you want to hide. It's about facing flaws, past mistakes, and imperfections head-on, no filters. Brutal Self-Reflection Get real with yourself by:      Facing Fears: Tackle those fears and insecurities; don’t let them consume you.      Owning Your Past: Admit your mistakes, learn, and move forward without self-criticism.      Self-Forgiveness: Let go of guilt. Forgiving yourself is often t...

When 222 Showed Up in the Middle of Chaos

Image
Sometimes the universe doesn’t whisper. Sometimes it interrupts.   Recently, I found myself suddenly forced out of a place I had been staying. My friend was already getting kicked out, and then her landlord said I had to go too because of the dog. Just like that, I was left trying to figure out where I was going to sleep, how I was going to pay for a hotel, and what I was supposed to do next. At the time, I had no money available. I had also already helped pay for food in that house, even though I was no longer going to be staying there. So yes, I asked for that money back. Not to be difficult, but because I was trying to survive a situation that changed instantly. What made the whole experience stand out to me was this: in the middle of it, I saw 222. Later, I realized I had left my phone behind. That may not sound deep to everyone, but to me it mattered. Because if I had my phone in that moment, while I was emotional and overwhelmed, I probably would have said things I didn’t me...

Nobody Tells You Sobriety Can Break You Too

Image
You get sober and you think the hard part is over. You white-knuckled your way through withdrawal. You said no when everything in you was screaming yes. You did the thing everyone said you needed to do. And then you waited for life to reward you for it. It doesn't. Nobody warns you about that part. The part where you're clean, you're trying, you're showing up every single day — and the world just keeps not giving a shit. No job comes through. No housing falls into place. No safety net appears. No one claps for you just for staying sober when staying sober is the hardest thing you've ever done. And that silence? That's the thing that breaks people. Not the addiction. Not the withdrawal. The silence after. The moment when you've done everything right and nothing has changed and you're sitting there thinking — what was the point? That's the moment society calls a relapse a moral failure. That's the moment they shake their heads and say ...

Embrace the Duality

You're here because life is chaotic and you're trying to love yourself through it. Good. You don't have to choose between soft and savage — you're both. Let this be your reminder when shit gets heavy. 1. Morning Affirmation : Set The Tone "Today, I rise. I don't need perfect conditions — I just need me." How to Use: Say this before your feet hit the floor. Let it set the tone before the bullshit starts. 2. Boundaries Affirmation : Protect Your Peace "My boundaries aren't mean — they're necessary. I protect my peace without apology." How to Use: When someone tests you, pause. Breathe. Say this before you respond. 3. Self-Worth Affirmation : Know Your Value "I am worthy of respect and good shit. Not because I earned it — because I exist." How to Use: When that inner voice talks shit, interrupt it with this. 4. Evening Affirmation : Release The Day "I did enough today. I release what didn't work and rest without guilt....
