But I'm in a fifth wheel. My budget is
"make sure the dog eats and the phone stays on."
Self-care for me looks different.
It's taking Glizzy for a walk even when I don't feel like moving.
It's drinking water instead of just coffee.
It's going to bed instead of doomscrolling until 3am.
It's saying no to shit that drains me — even when I feel guilty about it.It's letting the dishes sit one more day because I don't have the bandwidth and that's FINE.
Real self-care isn't about buying things. It's about not abandoning yourself when life gets hard.
It's choosing to stay sober even when your brain is loud and boring feels unbearable.
It's building something slow instead of burning out fast.
It's being gentle with yourself when you don't get everything done — because you're one person in a tin can trying to hold an entire life together.
So no, I'm not doing a $200 skincare routine.
But I AM still here. Still trying. Still showing up for myself even when it's ugly and hard and there's no candle in sight.
That's self-care too.
Anyways, Ciao for now!
